Military are reimbursed for all testing, this means your out of pocket is next to nothing for a Quick Degree. Stop by the VA page and read this one page on testing beneifts.
I have been working with some people by email and getting them pointed in the right direction for a Quick Degree. Please remember this only applies to your bachelors degree. I hope everyone continues on to one of the master's programs listed on the site. You'll feel great telling the interviewer "I'm currently working on a master's degree" at your next job interview! Many allow early admission while you are finishing your BA.
I've added some new links to free textbook sources and some E-book sites. The best source will always be the local library and any audio books. Just drive, listen and learn. If you are a slave to the treadmill or exercise bike, get a video from the Standard Deviants from your library, they're informative and funny. Mom's with small kids will find the little ones watching too, maybe they can "test out" sooner than you'd thought!

Just a quick reminder to take care of the federal aid forms this month. Some state aid is dependent on this form and it has a March 1st cutoff for submission.

With the rising unemployment rates I'm sure many people will now be squeezed harder at work, if they are still working. A degree is even more important when employers are getting picky on who stays and who goes. I urge everyone to check out the programs offered by your states unemployment office. Many offer direction on resume writing and assistance for going to college. This resource is usually overlooked if you're not currently collecting unemployment but they have a veterans department and resources for small businesses too. There is a multitude of services available. This could be the foot in the door toward your educational goals. Once you're in make it "Quick".
Many of us will start back to school in the next week or so. Hopefully with the information on saving money and time from the site this will be the year you finish your degree. I wish everyone luck in the upcoming semester and hope you get what you seek quickly :).

Wow, based on the emails and number of hits this first week I think people are happy with this site. I'm glad everyone is getting their "homework" done during the break. If you are not sure where to start check out the free courses on the related links section of quickdegree.info. This way you can get your feet wet without a monetary committment. It's also a good way to find out what online learning is about and how it works. Each school is different in the delivery and length of semester. Some colleges have condensed 6-8 week courses to allow a student to take more courses per year. Generally these require constant attention, they cram a full semester of study in to a shorter time. I went to Yahoo Groups the "Distance Education" area and noticed that the Excelsior Exams have many groups devoted to them. Some are strictly for nursing students but many are for any of the exams. I would suggest looking over some of the groups. Getting input from many sources may help your odds of success.
The government printing office has a publication on the alternative ways to earn college credentials at this link. The Quick Degree Info site is far more comprehensive but this document does validate much of the information.
